Due to coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Austin city provides an official website (https://www.austintexas.gov/covid19) updating the pandemic status with both a COVID-Tracking Digital Dashboard and a Key Indicator for Staging Dashboard.

The Key indicator for Staging Dashboard provides the current stage of risk and the detailed guideline per each stage. The COVID-Tracking Digital Dashboard provides detailed reported cases information such as each zip code reported cases, hospitalization trend, and the world summary report.

In July, you would follow the stage of risk guidelines, wear masks in public ( up to $250 fine if violated), practice good hygiene, stay home if sick, and avoid sick people. Then, based on the stage, you need to know:
  • Stage 1: all businesses are open. You would stop gatherings greater than 25 and can continue dining/shopping except with precautions.
  • Stage 2: only essential and reopened businesses are open. You would avoid gatherings greater than 10 (or 25 if you are lower risk individual)..
  • Stage 3: essential and reopened businesses are open. You would avoid gathering greater than 10 (or 10 if you are lower risk individuals).
  • Stage 4: only expanded essential businesses are open. You would avoid gathering greater than 2 (or 10 if you are lower risk individuals).
  • Stage 5: only essential businesses are open. You would avoid any gatherings outside of the household.
Stay safe and well.
