What to Do When seeing Downed Power Lines?

Ice and wind can bring down power lines, to make sure you are safe, please find the following important tips to help you sate safe:
  •  NEVER TOUCH a down power line or anything or anyone in contact with the down power line. 
  • Stay at least 18 feet away from the down power line. You can be shocked if you are closed to the line. 
  • DON'T attempt to move a downed power line. 
  • DON't drive your vehicle near a downed power line. 
  • If your vehicle come in contact with a down power line, don't leave the vehicle. Wait for the utility and emergency professional to de-engergize the power line. 
  • Call local energy office to report the incident. (i.e. Austin Energy (512) 322-9100) and 9-1-1 for emergency help.
